About STM

The Society for Thermal Medicine was created 1986 by researchers involved in the field of thermal therapy. The society strives to facilitate interaction and communication between theoreticians, experimentalists, and clinical practitioners from the disciplines of biological, chemical, physical engineering, and clinical sciences leading to contributions to the understanding and use of hyperthermia. Inherent in this is a desire to promote basic research and clinical application of hyperthermia while diffusing this gained knowledge to persons in the many diverse disciplines interested in the field.

Founded: 1986

Regional chapters: none

Members: 200

Council consists of President, President-Elect, Secretary-Treasurer, Editor-in-Chief (International Journal of Hyperthermia) and Past President. Also six councilors, two each from Disciplines of Biology, Medicine & Physics/Engineering.

The Society typically holds its annual scientific meeting annually. There are approximately 125 oral and poster presentations on hyperthermia research during the meeting. Experts in the field of hyperthermia are invited to present symposia on topics of special interest and workshops.
